OWLS NEST

The Owls Nest was built by Frederick "Cy" Williams an American professional baseball player for the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies. This 2 bedroom cabin is nestled among large pines and has the original logs on the outside but has been totally renovated inside. The newly remodeled Kitchen and bathroom have corrugated metal ceilings for a rustic look and the entire cottage has tile flooring for easy clean up. The décor is a mix of all things that our family loves that makes you feel immediately at home. The cabin has an abundance of natural wood that gives it a cozy, inviting feel that you won’t want to leave.
Although there is no lake view the lake is an easy walk down a hill where a small sitting area, fire pit and two kayaks await. The lake is small (129 acres) but is great for fishing and is connected to the chain of 28 lakes by a small canal and quant cement bridge and is perfect place for kayaking and for spotting birds and other wildlife. The 3 Eagle Bike Trail is just down the road and is perfect for biking or walking through the area woodlands. The scenery and wildlife are spectacular.

Castle Magner II

This Executive Lake Home is situated on a Prime Location on the Three Lakes Chain of Lakes. You'll enjoy boating, kayaking, swimming over a sandy bottom or just relaxing on the pier.

Castlemagner II is a great gathering place, as our father used to say; “to enjoy each other’s company.” For this reason, he called our special place Castlemagner II after a castle in Ireland that belonged to our Magner ancestors many centuries ago. When I bring my friends up to visit, they all think our living room is right out of the 1981 movie On Golden Pond. And yes, this has been the setting where multi-generations gather and grow together. The original structure was built in 1920, and has been doubled in size and been modernized several times. Comfort has not been sacrificed for style. With a spacious updated kitchen, 7 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, everyone is your group of 14 will be comfortable

Water activities are the main attraction in the summer, as we are part of the famous Three Lakes Chain of Lakes. Lots to explore by motorboat, kayak, or paddle board. We love checking out the eagles’ nest two bays over or heading to breakfast in the boat at Sunset Grill. Then we go the opposite direction in the boat to Pine Isle for lunch or dinner. After eating we play a little volleyball at Pine Isle. The area has much more to offer (golfing, hiking, biking, fishing, tennis or pickle ball). On rainy days we play bridge, spoons & charades. The “cottage” is located on two lots and has water on three sides. It is on the Three Lakes Chain of Lakes and there are two marinas reasonably close (Three Lakes Marina/Big Stone Lake and Watercraft Sales/Island Lake), so boat rental should not be a problem.

There are 2 swimming areas, one on the bay and one off the channel, so you can catch the morning sun or the afternoon sun. If swimming is not your thing, the 2 wooded lots offer lots of places to play. The kids build forts out of downed branches or “fairy forts” with pools next to the water. And then there is always fishing off the front pier in the early morning or around sunset. I can’t even begin to tell you what the stargazing is like!!!! That comes after the evening campfire and s’mores. Then it’s off to bed to dream about another day in the north woods.

Reviews

Scott Fairfax
"Our family would like to thank you for the exceptional vacation we just enjoyed in Eagle River. Northern Wisconsin in the summer is a wonderful break from the heat and humidity of a Northern Virginia summer. The Lighthouse Lodge home on Planting ground lake was outstanding. The service from Northern Lakes Vacation Homes was superior. Mark and Rich were easy to work with and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We look forward to coming back to Wisconsin soon!"

"We stayed the week of July 4th with another family, (4 adults and 4 kids). The house was perfect, with lots of space for everybody. Mark, Rich, and Bill made sure we had everything we needed while there, and the property/house is VERY well maintained. Lake access is great, with a shallow sandy area and deep enough water at the dock for good swimming and boating. We got a lot of use out of the kayaks and canoe. The kitchen is really well equipped, and we ended up cooking most meals there. We were initially worried that the hot weather would make the house uncomfortable, since it does not have air conditioning, but the lake breeze and cool nights made it really pleasant. Be aware the internet is generally too slow for Netflix, etc, so plan ahead for rainy day activities. Highly recommend strawberry picking at Clearwater farms, and biking on the three eagle trail. (Trailhead is about 1.5-2 miles from the house)"

Perfect place to stay for our annual Valentine's Day snow-mobile trip. Great access to everything. Three lakes cabin is clean, quiet and comfortable.

A wonderful place to enjoy the Chain of Lakes with having access to two lakes from the cabin. The boat house roof has a table and chairs that are wonderful area to eat your meal looking on to the lake. There is an ongoing landscape project that I think will be the nicest on the chain when completed. If you are looking for a clean comfortable and quiet place to stay this is it. I definitely will return.

"This house was very cool, with a unique design and wonderful lake breezes. Top notch construction (beautiful kitchen, porch, many windows), nice yard and secluded property. Sandy beach and convenient dock for the pontoon we rented.
The property managers were very friendly and attentive, answering our emailed questions before our travel, and greeting us upon our arrival to show us around. They thoughtfully left wine and a food basket, as well as fresh cucumbers and squash from their own garden! It was a nice (and delicious!) personal touch. They obviously cared about our experience and making sure everything was just right. We would recommend both the house and the managers!"

"This was a beautiful home to rent. It was very well stocked and the communication with the property manager was fantastic. Highly recommend. We had a great time!"

Steve and Jennie L, 2018

"We hired Northern Lakes Vacation Homes LLC, a local Three Lakes company, to manage the rental of our executive home on Planting Ground Lake. Even though our home was for sale, NLVH seamlessly managed every aspect of the rental from late June until mid-August when it suddenly sold. Rich, Bill and Mark met all of our expectations. They were very attentive and professional, even watering our plants! Our home was professionally cleaned after each rental and the NLVH Team was there to supervise and monitor. All of our renters gave very positive reviews about their stay and their visit to Three Lakes. We were so pleased with the property management by NLVH that we asked them to help us move when the home sold. We definitely recommend NLVH, had we known renting the property would be so easy and lucrative, we may have decided not to sell! 5 Stars!"

"Voyageur was the right balance of amenities and nature. We enjoyed having access to all the luxuries of a home on the lake, while experiencing all of the beauty of nature. The sunsets were amazing. We loved kayaking at sunset. The lake was quiet and beautiful. The weather was better than anticipated. Each day we appreciated a visit from a doe and her two fawns. They played for sometimes a half hour as we watched. The bald eagle landed on the dock one evening, which was quite a treat. The fishing was good. We were able to have a fish fry toward the end of our stay. The kids loved all of the water toys and we really enjoyed all of the family time. The hospitality provided by Rich was excellent. He was very responsive and thorough. Overall, it was a great vacation."
